The Siena Men's Tennis program concluded its opening weekend at the Greater Cincinnati Invitational with doubles action, as the squads list of teams took to the court. No singles were left in the back draw due to travel time and tournament lag.
Guillermo Torres and
Tomos del Olmo defeated Jack Dykema and Brett Winters to open up their day (6-4). However, the duo would drop their finals match of the back draw to Jordan Benjamin and Spencer Richey of Dayton (6-1). The other men's victory came from
Matt Bellino and
Muhammad Sawani, as they defeated Chen and Aduru from Case Western 7-6 (14-12) in a great match. But, they would also drop their back draw final to Weaver and Macaluso (6-2) from Xavier.
The other two doubles in action for the Saints were
Sagar Bains and
Cameron Kirkwood, who lost to both DeMarco and Harper from Dayton (6-0), as well as Kanam and Powell from Case Western (6-1). The last one would be
Griffen Barnett and
Alexandros Giannakitsidis who lost to Vicario and Cancannon (6-2) from Case Western, and Elleman and Hidalgo (6-2) from Northern Kentucky.
"It was nice to get both the men and the women together the first week at a great venue," said head coach
Jeff Osborn. "I'm proud of both teams playing hard against high caliber teams and look forward to a great fall season."
