The Siena Women's Tennis team built off a solid showing Friday, putting up solid individual efforts in the second day of the Hofstra Pride Invitational. Saturday's matches featured singles matchups, with multiple Saints in action.
The day belonged to the youth, with freshman
Meagan Brown and sophomore
Nanea Perkins taking home the top performances. Brown would win her first match in Draw A, taking down Tatiana Eftenoiu of Fairleigh Dickinson 8-3 before falling in her second matchup. Perkins would drop her first match, before rallying with a pair of wins to reach the B Consolation Final. She would defeat Rina Baynes of Wagner 8-4, and teammate
Juliana Goehner 8-3 to reach the final match of the draw. However, Perkins would fall to Samantha Lugtu of Wagner 8-6.
Also putting up wins on the day was senior
Anessa Leyva and freshman
Dilara Spicer. Leyva won her first match of the day in the B Draw over Lugtu in a hard fought 9-8 (10-8) tiebreaker win before dropping her next match and retiring for the day. Spicer would drop her first match in the A Draw before picking up her victory in her first match of the back draw over Marta Ruszczynska of Fairleigh Dickinson 8-4.
