Fiore Sets Qualifying Mark at John Thomas Terrier Invitational

Senior Meets Standard for USA Indoor National Championship

Senior Luciano Fiore stole the show for the Siena Saints men's track and field squad on Saturday afternoon, as he ran the qualifying standard for the men's 1000m run for the USA Indoor National Championship in his effort at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational, hosted by Boston University.

Fiore's accomplishment set the tone for the day, as he finished ninth overall in the event with a time of 2:25.64. That time would set a new Siena record in the process as well. Junior Evans Kibet also shined with a 30th place finish in the men's mile with a time of 4:13.35. Michael Rautter and Jack O'Hara each performed well in the men's 3000m run, as Rautter finished 40th overall with a time of 8:34.42. O'Hara would come up with a 73rd overall finish, putting up a time of 8:49.83.

In the 5000m run, Stosh Davis was the top finisher for the Green and Gold, finishing 39th with a time of 15:15.40. Owen Walker and Aiden Canavan also finished well in the event, with Walker posting a 15:41.36 for 61st, and Canavan scoring a 15:47.91 for 65th. Ryan Holland won his heat in the men's 800m run, finishing 78th overall with sub-two time, putting up a 1:59.24.

The team returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 2 when they travel to Utica for the Blue and Orange Invitational, hosted by Utica College.
