NEW BRITIAN, CT – Members of the Siena Men's & Women's Cross Country squads received a final touch-up before the MAAC Cross Country Championships Friday, taking part in the 17th Annual CCSU Mini Meet in New Britain, Connecticut. The women placed fourth as a team while the men took eighth place.
New Hampshire and Providence took home the top spots for the women and men, respectively. MAAC rival Fairfield participated for the men as well, while the Stags and Quinnipiac took part for the women.
The Saints placed three runners in the top-13 for the women's 3k, with sophomore Olivia Lomascolo placing sixth overall (10:12.2). Freshman Sophia Vinciguerra (10:27.3) and junior Monica Strain (10:28.1) placed 12th and 13th, respectively.
Five of the top-6 runners on the men's side in the 5k were freshman for the Green and Gold, with Aidan Gillooley (15:29.3) leading the way to finish in 28th. Peter Alden (15:39.5) took 37th, while Matthew Laframboise (15:44.5) placed 41st.
Following the conclusion of its Fall 2019 regular season, Siena Cross Country will now prepare for the 2019 MAAC Cross Country Championship. This year's running will be held in Holmdel, New Jersey on Saturday, November 2 at 11:00 a.m.
