Siena is looking to build upon a 12-18 overall record last season in which the Saints finished tied for seventh in the MAAC with an 8-10 league mark. Headlining the team's returnees is senior
Sabrina Piper, who enjoyed a breakout junior season last year in which she averaged 10.9 points while ranking eighth in the MAAC in blocks (0.9) and ninth in free throw percentage (.710). Piper scored in double figures 14 times, highlighted by a career-high 30-point effort vs. Colgate. Piper is one of seven returnees for the Saints to go along with six newcomers including five true freshmen.
In the series history, Siena and Binghamton will be squaring off for the seventh time on Tuesday evening, with the first meeting of the series coming in 2009-10. Head Coach
Ali Jaques is currently undefeated against the Bearcats, standing with a perfect 3-0 record with wins in each of her first three seasons at the helm of the Green and Gold.
The last time these two teams met was back on December 19, 2014. Four Saints scored in double figures as Siena overcame a sluggish start to put away Binghamton 62-53 at the Events Center in Vestal, NY. Junior forward Symone Kelly, sophomore captain
Meghan Donohue and freshman forward
Margot Hetzke all scored 12 points apiece for the Saints which head into a nine-day holiday break riding back-to-back road wins. Senior captain Tehresa Coles once again filled the stat sheet with 11 points, a career-high tying seven assists, six rebounds and five steals for Siena which completed the road portion of its non-conference schedule with a perfect 4-0 record that season.
Binghamton finished 12-18 last season and was fifth in the America East Conference. Senior guard Kai Moon, who was named second-team all-conference, averaged 13.1 points per game. The Bearcats return two other seniors (Carly Boland and Karlee Krchnavi) as well as three other starters (Boland, Krchnavi and junior forward Olivia Ramil). In the America East preseason poll, the Bearcats were picked fourth out of nine teams. Binghamton is seeking its second consecutive opening-day win. Last season, the Bearcats defeated Charleston (W.V.) 69-62 on Nov. 6 at the Events Center.
