Ten things you need to know in Siena's game vs. UMass:Â
- The Saints and the Minutewomen meet for the ninth time in their histories. Siena is 3-5 all-time against UMass, but have taken the last two meetings as head coach Ali Jaques stands 2-0 against the school from Amherst.
- The Saints will look to win a pair of games in a row for the first time this season after they defeated UAlbany at the ARC last Saturday in the Crosstown Showdown by a final score of 52-46.
- Junior Marilena Gerostergiou snagged 15 rebounds against UAlbany, which was the most rebounds in a single game by a Siena Saint since Emmanuella Edoka snagged 17 against Sacred Heart on Dec. 17 2017.
- Gerostergiou's total rebounds against UAlbany are the second most in a single game this season of all MAAC programs.
- Thanks to Gerostergiou's effort as well, the Saints broke a nine-game streak of being outrebounded by an opponent.
- Senior Sabrina Piper scored 18 points with seven rebounds and five steals in the win. Piper has now scored in double-figures in all but one of Siena's matchups with season. She also leads the team in all offensive categories.
- The Crosstown Showdown was held at the Alumni Recreation Center on Siena's campus for the first time since 1980. With the exception of 2016's meeting at UAlbany's SEFCU arena, all other games were held in downtown Albany at the Times Union Center (FKA Pepsi Arena or Knickerbocker Arena)
- Beginning prior to last Wednesday's competition, Rayshel Brown is immediately eligible to suit up for the Saints after being granted a legislative relief waiver by the NCAA. The Staten Island, NY native averaged 5.6 points and 2.3 rebounds during her first two seasons at La Salle.
- In both of her games so far, Brown has notched 15 points in each of her two appearances against Colgate and UAlbany.
- The Saints take the floor only four times this month, while also marking the first time since the 2008-09 campaign that they have only had one December home game which came against UAlbany last Saturday. Siena is taking part in four contests in the final month of the year for the second straight season.
