Seventh Inning Surge Sends UCF Past Saints

White Fans Eight in Season Debut

Dalton Wingo hit a three-run homer to punctuate a four-run, go-ahead seventh inning for UCF which defeated Siena Baseball 5-1 in the middle game of a season-opening three-game series in Orlando. Freshman shortstop Devan Kruzinski notched a pair of hits and drove in the lone run for the Saints.

With the score tied 1-1 entering the home half of the seventh, Griffin Bernardo hit an RBI double, and Wingo's blast capped the four-run frame for UCF (2-0) which has captured 56 of 59 all-time meetings between the programs.

Brendan White struck out eight over five strong innings for Siena (0-2). He scattered six hits and allowed just one run while walking two.

The Knights opened the scoring in the third inning on an RBI double by Dallas Beaver. He finished with three of UCF's 13 hits, and was one of five batters to tally a multi-hit performance for the Knights.

The Saints leveled the scored in the fifth inning. Yasser Santana reached on a muffed throw, and Kruzinski followed with a double to left to knot the score. Freshmen accounted for four of Siena's five hits, as Carson Dunkel and Ryan McGee each contributed their first collegiate knocks.

The Saints will look to salvage the series Sunday, which gets underway at 1 p.m.
