The Siena Saints Track and Field team opened their outdoor slate of 2019 in a big way, as they put up winners in multiple events at the Wagner Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Siena's big events came in the distance events, with multiple top finishers.
Right off to begin the day at noon came a huge victory for the Saints, as they placed the top four runners in the women's 5000m run.
Regina Rosati finished in the top spot, running a blazing 18:09.35, finishing over seven seconds faster than teammate
Olivia Lomascolo who finished second at 18:16.91.
Sydney Johnson and
Sydney Johnson finished third and fourth with similar times, as Sydney scored an 18:17.10 while Camryn ran an 18:17.14.
Also finishing with top spots was
Carolyn Pellegrini in the women's 1500m with a time of 5:01.33, which was eight seconds faster than the second place finisher. Pellegrini also added a third place finish in the women's 800m run, putting up a time of 2:26.32. Freshman Oliva Durant scored an 11
th place finish in the women's 400m run with a time of 1:13.46.
On the men's side, the same top heavy finish came in the men's 5000m as the Saints placed the top three finishing spots.
Aidan Canavan and
Andrew Canavan led the way as the top two finishers, as they had times of 15:42.14 and 15:51.05. Freshman
Owen Walker would finish third in the event with a time of 15:56.06. The Saints also placed three of the top four finishers in the men's 1500m run, as
William Randall and
Jack O'Hara finished first and second, with times of 4:10.62 and 4:13.16. Coming in fourth in the event was
Michael Stoker, as he put up a time of 4:16.52.
Also taking a top victory was freshman
Ryan Holland, as he finished first in the men's 800m run with a time of 2:00.98. Senior
Daniel Medici would join him in the event, finishing sixth with a time of 2:07.33. Lastly, the 4x400 relay team of
Chris Estremera,
Ittai Rosales, Holland, and Medici took home a second place finish in the event with a time of 3:41.73.
The Saints return to action next Saturday, March 30 when they head to Smithfield, RI to take part in the Black and Gold Invitational hosted by Bryant University.
