LOUDONVILLE, NY – Nate Ostmo drove in three runs including the go-ahead two-run double during a decisive four-run fourth inning as Dartmouth defeated Siena Baseball 6-4 at Connors Park. Freshmen
Ryan McGee and
Devan Kruzinski each registered a season-high four hits apiece for the Saints which tied a season benchmark with their sixth 13-hit game this spring.
Â
Siena (11-26) brushed off a first inning solo home run from Ostmo with a three-run home half.
Brian Kelly singled to center to drive in the first run, while Kruzinski followed with a two-run single.
Â
But Dartmouth (13-21) responded with four runs on four hits in the top of the fourth to claim a 5-3 lead. Ostmo, who tallied a team-high three hits, registered the decisive blow in the frame.
Â
The Saints rallied within 6-4 on another RBI single by Kelly in the fifth, and put the potential tying runs in scoring position in the ninth, but couldn't cash in. Kelly notched a pair of hits to extend his on-base streak to 23 games, while
Zach Durfee singled in his final at-bat in the ninth to keep his 25-game on-base streak alive.
Â
Avery Short,
Arlo Marynczak, and
Mike McCully combined to surrender just one run on four hits over 5.2 solid innings of relief.
Â
The Saints continue their season long seven-game homestand when they open a critical three-game series vs. MAAC rival Iona Saturday with doubleheader action commencing at noon at Connors Park.
