The Siena Saints cross country program opened their season on Saturday afternoon, as they headed south to Poughkeepsie to take part in the Marist Invitational at Vassar Farm. Senior
Sydney Johnson took home the top finish for the women's side, while graduate
Luciano Fiore brought home the best finish on the men's side.
In the 5K, Johnson took home a fifth place finish with a time of 18:53.0, as Marist placed the top four spots.
Regina Rosati was the second top Saint, finishing eighth with a time of 19:12.1.
Monica Strain (14th),
Anya Schmitt (17th), and
Morgan Serkes (18th) topped out the Top 20 finishers for the Green and Gold, while Mia Forester,
Julia Bryant, and
Megan Linendoll rounded out the lineup.
On the men's side, which ran a 6K course, Fiore scored a 16th place finish with a time of 19:40.9. Sophomore
Owen Walker came away with the second top finish, coming in 24th with a time of 19:59.8.
Michael Stoker and
Jacob Greski were the other top 30 finishers with a times of 20:02.7 and 20:07.0.
Cole DiGiacomo and
Ryan Holland rounded out the participants for the men's side. Roberto Piotto of Central Connecticut finished first with a time of 19:13.8.
The Saints return to the course next weekend on Saturday, Sept. 8 when they play host to the Siena Invitational at The Crossings of Colonie. The event will kick off at 9:45 a.m.
