The Siena Women's Tennis team found some good fortune in Day 1 at the Hofstra Invitational on Friday morning, as the Green and Gold saw two singles players and one doubles grouping advance to Day 2 of the tournament on Saturday with multiple wins.
In singles, both
Meagan Brown and
Juliana Goehner each snagged victories to advance into the main bracket of their draws. Both won twice, as Brown faced a three-game match in their second matchup to take the win.
Nanea Perkins and
Anastasia Koniaev each snagged a win on the day as well in singles, but Perkins took her win in the back draw of Draw A, while Koniaev won her first match in Draw B but then fell in her second match to get knocked out of the tournament.
In doubles, Perkins and Goehner won their lone matchup, and thanks to a first round bye in Draw B will play for the Draw B championship tomorrow. The duo of Brown and Koniaev lost their matchup, falling 6-1 to Hofstra.
The Saints return to action tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 27 when the remaining Siena players in the tournament take to the courts at Hofstra. Opening serve for the day goes up at 12 p.m.
