Saints Set to Host Saint Peter's in MAAC Home Opener

Women's Soccer Carries Five-Match Unbeaten Streak into Saturday Showdown

LOUDONVILLE, NY - Siena Women's Soccer looks to both kick off its home conference slate and close out the month of September on a high note when the Saints host Saint Peter's in their MAAC home opener at Siena Field at 1 p.m. on ESPN3. Siena enters Saturday's tilt riding a five-match unbeaten streak comprised of a pair of victories and three ties.

A.J. Kanell and Joe Mixie have the call of today's match on ESPN3. Today's broadcast marks the debut of a pair of women's soccer ESPN telecasts this season from the new Frank '85 and Sheila Ambrose Media Center. Siena's Oct. 9 MAAC Championship Match rematch vs. Monmouth will be broadcast on ESPN+. ESPN3 is ESPN's live multi-screen sports network, a destination that delivers thousands of exclusive sports events annually. It is accessible online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app, and streamed on televisions through Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. The network is currently available at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider. The network is also available at no cost to U.S. college students and U.S.-based military personnel on computers connected to on-campus educational networks and on-base military networks.

Siena (2-5-3, 0-0-1) enters today's match playing its best soccer of the season, riding a five match unbeaten streak (2-0-3). This marks the eighth consecutive season in which the Saints have boasted at least one four-match unbeaten streak during the campaign. Siena has once again been buoyed by the play of 2018 MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year Taylor Dorado. Named one of just 30 candidates nationally for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award earlier this week, Dorado enters today's contest ranked fourth nationally with 63 saves. Dorado made a season-high 11 saves in Wednesday night's 1-1 draw at crosstown rival, defending American East Champion and preseason favorite UAlbany.

Now in his 21st season at the helm, head coach Steve Karbowski enters today's match in search of his milestone 100th career MAAC Regular Season victory. Karbowski, who piloted his alma mater to the program's first two MAAC Championships in 2010 and 2015, has tallied 186 overall wins including a 99-66-22 (.588) mark in conference action.

In their 40th season of varsity competition and 28th in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, Siena is an impressive 17-6-3 (.712) all-time in MAAC home openers. The Saints played Quinnipiac to a scoreless draw in last season's conference lid-lifter at Siena Field.

Siena puts a 21-match unbeaten streak on the line today vs. Saint Peter's (2-6, 0-1). The Saints have outscored the Peacocks by an 84-8 margin during their two decades of dominance in the series which coincides with Karbowski's tenure. Overall, Siena leads the all-times series 24-4-1, including a 4-0 triumph in the most recent meeting last Oct. 10 in Jersey City. Meghan Riccardi, Ashleigh Sarafin, and Amber Alfonzo all tallied goals for the Saints who were also the beneficiaries of an own goal.

Saint Peter's enters today's contest looking to snap a six-match losing streak, after having opened the season with consecutive victories over Delaware State (3-1) and Hampton (1-0). The Peacocks have been outscored 17-1 during their losing skid, although fell just 3-1 in a hard fought battle in their conference opener last weekend against defending MAAC Champion Monmouth.
