Ten things you need to know in Siena's game vs. Niagara:
- The Green and Gold are currently competing in their fourth game in 10 days on Thursday, and will complete the 10 day swing at Canisius on Saturday. Siena is 0-3 over the previous three during this stretch.
- Today's game will be the first of three 11 AM games the Saints will partake in this season. They will also play at 11 AM next Thursday at home when they host Manhattan and will also play at 11 AM when they head to Manhattan on Feb. 6.
- The Saints and Purple Eagles have traded wins in pairs since 2016-17. Siena swept the season series that season, followed by a pair of wins by Niagara in MAaC regular season action in 2017-18. However, the Saints bested the Purple Eagles in the MAAC Tournament in March of 2018, and with a win last season in 2018-19 made it two in a row.
- Niagara is Siena's most frequent opponent in their history as a program, meeting for the 80th time.
- Head Coach
Ali Jaques won her 100th game as a head coach last season on Feb. 16, 2019 in a 67-61 win over Niagara. All of her wins as a head coach have come at Siena.
- According to the NCAA, the Saints had the 57th hardest strength of schedule in non-conference action in the country this season.
- Additionally, the Saints have competed against two teams currently in the top 100 RPI (Penn & Colgate), while Saint Peter's has only faced one (Lehigh).
- Siena have gone 0-3 to start conference play for the first time since 2014-15, when they began the MAAC slate 0-3. That season, the Saints would also lose to Fairfield then Quinnipiac, and then lose the third game to Marist. Siena would make their run with the "Magnificent 7" later in the season en route to the WBI title game where they would fall to Louisiana-Lafayette. That team would finish the season 22-13 overall with an 11-9 mark in the MAAC.
- The Saints have never begun a MAAC Schedule 0-4 in their history as a program. Siena is also currently on their longest MAAC losing streak since 2016, losing six in a row. Siena's last conference win goes back to last season, winning in overtime in Western New York at Canisius.
- Senior
Sabrina Piper scored a season-high 24 points against Saint Peter's on Monday night. Piper has now scored in double-figures in all but one of Siena's matchups with season. She also leads the team in all offensive categories and sits 186 points away from 1,000 career points.
