LOUDONVILLE, NY – The Siena Women's Basketball program and head coach
Ali Jaques have announced the addition of mid-year transfer Selena Philoxy to the program.
Philoxy, a 6-0 native of Queens, matriculates to Loudonville by the way of Stetson and Seton Hall, having last played for the Pirates last season before moving to Stetson this past fall. She will be eligible to appear for the Saints next season, and has one year of eligibility remaining beggining following the completion of the Fall 2021 semester.
"I am excited to add Selena Philoxy to our program," said Jaques. "She is a player we recruited very heavily when she was in high school. She is a physical post presence and proven rebounder at the Big East level."
Philoxy last played in 2019-20 for Seton Hall, appearing in 17 games with seven starts, averaging 2.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game as a junior. As a sophomore, she appeared in all 31 contests and starting 19 of the final 23. She averaged 5.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, and ranked sixth in the BIG EAST in overall rebounding and third with 9.3 rebounds per game in league play. With multiple games with double-digit rebounds, her big game came with a career-high 21 rebounds at Xavier (Jan. 6).
To go with her rebounding, she scored in double-digits in the final two games of the season, potting 14 points in the BIG EAST Tournament vs. St. John's (Mar. 9) before a career-high 19 points in the WNIT at Toledo (Mar. 21). As a freshman for the Pirates, she appeared in all 32 contests as a reserve, averaging 3.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.9 steals in 13.8 minutes per game.
Prior to college, she was named a News 12 Varsity All-Metro Second Team selection as a senior, and scored 19 points in the New York State Federation Class AA championship to lead South Shore to its second-straight title. Philoxy transferred to South Shore High School for her junior season and led the Lady Vikings to a PSAL Class AA title, averaging 11 points and 10.5 rebounds per game for South Shore. She would be named the Brooklyn Daily Player of the Year and an NYSSWA Third Team All-State
