Saints Drop Final Two at Eastern Kentucky

Colonels Capture 8-3, 11-2 Decisions

Siena Baseball dropped its final two games of a four-game weekend series at Eastern Kentucky, with 8-3 and 11-2 setbacks Sunday in Richmond, Kentucky.

Game One: Eastern Kentucky 8, Siena 3
Eastern Kentucky (8-2) scored the first seven runs of the game highlighted by a five-run fifth to clinch the series.

The Colonels worked five walks, tallied three hits, and executed a pair of double steals during the decisive fifth inning. Logan Thomason started the scoring with a two-run single, and then later stole home in the inning on the front-end of a double steal. Thomason went a perfect 4-4 with a pair of steals for Eastern Kentucky, while Daniel Harris IV added a two-run homer.

Siena (0-12) scoring single runs in the sixth, seventh, and ninth innings on a fielding error, fielder's choice, and an RBI groundout, respectively. Brendan Conley led the way offensively, tallying two of the Saints' six hits.

Game Two: Eastern Kentucky 11, Siena 2 (7)
Eastern Kentucky scored 10 unanswered runs spanning the third through sixth inning to rally back and complete the sweep in a seven-inning affair.

Pat O'Hare hit his first Siena home run, a two-run shot to stake the Saints to an early 2-1 lead in the second.

But the Colonels went back in front on RBI doubles by Thomason and Harris as part of a three-run third. Eastern Kentucky added a run in the fourth, and put things away with a four-run fifth capped by a Christian Lucio two-run home run.

O'Hare and Bryce Mordecki each recorded a pair of hits apiece to account for Siena's four hits.

Charlie Ludwick and Nick Howie each drove in three runs for the Colonels.

The Saints continue their season-opening month-long road trip next weekend with a three-game series at Davidson beginning Saturday at 1 p.m. in Davidson, North Carolina.
