Davidson Powers Past Saints in Series Finale

Siena Goes Deep Three Times in Defeat

Matt Frey homered and drove in three runs as Davidson completed the weekend sweep of Siena Baseball 12-7 in North Carolina. The Saints doubled their team home run total on the season, as Zach Durfee, Jake Hall, and Pat O'Hare all cranked homers.

Siena (0-15) claimed a 3-2 lead in the third, following a second inning home run from Hall and RBI's from O'Hare and Jonathan Crimmin in the ensuing frame.

But Davidson (12-3) responded with five unanswered runs to take a 7-3 advantage through five full. The Wildcats scored three times in the third, before adding a pair of insurance runs in the fifth.

The Saints battled back with a Ryan McGee RBI triple in the sixth, and Durfee and O'Hare went deep back-to-back in the seventh to rally Siena back within a run at 7-6.

However, Davidson answered with a two-run homer by Ruben Fontes in the seventh to spark a five-run response.

Crimmin, Devan Kruzinski, and McGee all tallied a pair of hits apiece for the Saints who recorded 11 total including five of the extra-base variety.

The Saints continue their Spring Break trip to North Carolina Tuesday when the open a mini two-game mid-week series at Appalachian State at 3 p.m.
