LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Basketball Head Coach Carmen Maciariello has announced the addition of rising junior guard Jason Hawkes. A 6-5, 195-pound walk-on, Hawkes hails from Rochester, New York, and previously played at Monroe Community College in Rochester and Daemen College in Amherst, New York.

"Jason worked extremely hard to get to Siena," said Maciariello. "He was determined to be a Saint. He is a tireless worker and does whatever he can to help our program."

Hawkes was a member of MCC's roster during the 2018-19 season, starting 13 games and averaging 7.1 points per game, while shooting 47.8 percent from the field. He played at Daemen during the 2017-18 season, and before college, played at Aquinas Institute in Rochester, New York, where helped the team capture their first ever NYSPHSAA Class AA State Championship alongside fellow Saint Jalen Pickett.

Hawkes is the tenth addition to the 2020-21 Siena Basketball roster, joining incoming freshmen Aidan Carpenter, Colin Golson, Bennett Kwiecinski and Steven Lazar, graduate transfers Harrison Curry (Detroit Mercy) and Nick Hopkins (Belmont), and undergraduate transfers Kyle Arrington (Western Illinois), Jackson Stormo (Pepperdine), and Dana Tate, Jr. (Rhode Island).

Hawkes joins a Siena Basketball program which captured the program's eighth MAAC Regular Season Championship and was awarded their sixth MAAC Tournament Championship while also being crowned the conference's NCAA automatic qualifier this past winter. Siena is projected to return three starters from last year's squad which posted a 20-10 overall record including a 15-5 ledger in the MAAC and finished the season with 10 consecutive wins to mark the nation's seventh longest active winning streak.
