Siena Basketball Welcomes Graduate Transfer Harrison Curry

Michigan Native Spent Past Two Seasons at Detroit Mercy

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Basketball Head Coach Carmen Maciariello has officially announced the addition of graduate transfer Harrison Curry. The 6-7, 230-pound forward from Ann Arbor, Michigan matriculates to Siena College after spending the past two seasons at the University of Detroit Mercy. Curry has one year of eligibility remaining, and Siena is in the process of applying for a waiver which would grant him immediate eligibility.

"We are excited to welcome Harrison to Siena," said Maciariello. "He's a great communicator and a fantastic young man who will excel both on and off the court for us. He fits how we play, and will add to our already strong basketball IQ with his basketball acumen. It's a great day to be a Saint!"

Curry, who didn't play this past season at Detroit Mercy as he prepared to become a grad transfer, averaged 7.8 points – which ranked second on the squad – and 4.6 rebounds in 18.3 minutes spanning 19 games (six starts) in his lone season suiting up for the Titans in 2018-19. He scored in double figures eight times highlighted by a pair of 16-point performances, and posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds vs. Green Bay.

Curry matriculated back to his native Michigan from Louisiana Tech, where he appeared in one game during the 2017-18 campaign before missing the remainder of the season due to injury. He began his collegiate career at Pensacola State College (2015-17), where he was rated the 45th best junior college player in the country in 2017. Curry was named a First Team All-Conference selection after averaging a team-high 14.5 points and 6.3 rebounds as a sophomore, and posted averages of 11.3 points and 4.9 rebounds during his freshman campaign with the Pirates.

Curry played his senior year of high school basketball at Legacy Charter School in South Carolina, where he averaged a double-double with 15.7 points and 10.1 rebounds to earn Offensive MVP and Male Athlete of the Year honors. His father, Rodney, played collegiately at Western Michigan.

Curry becomes the fourth student athlete to join the Siena Basketball program as a graduate transfer, following Braedon Bayer (2018-19), Elijah Burns (2019-20), and Matt Hein (2019-20). Curry, who completed his undergraduate degree in business administration at Detroit Mercy, is enrolled in Siena College's MBA program.

Curry is the seventh addition to the 2020-21 Siena Basketball roster, joining undergraduate transfers Kyle Arrington (Western Illinois), Jackson Stormo (Pepperdine), and Dana Tate, Jr. (Rhode Island), and incoming freshmen Aidan Carpenter, Colin Golson, and Bennett Kwiecinski.

Curry joins a loaded Siena team on the rise. The Saints captured the program's eighth MAAC Regular Season Championship and were awarded their sixth MAAC Tournament Championship while also being crowned the conference's NCAA automatic qualifier this past winter. Siena is projected to return four starters from last year's squad which posted a 20-10 overall record including a 15-5 ledger in the MAAC, and finished the season with 10 consecutive wins to mark the nation's seventh longest active winning streak.
