Siena Women's Basketball officially begins a new era with a familiar face, as the Green and Gold are set to roll with
Jim Jabir at the helm. The Saints head to Vestal to open their 2021-22 campaign against the Binghamton Bearcats at 5:30 p.m. The game is the first of four games on the road to open the season.

Jim Jabir era 2.0. The Green and Gold will be led with veterans such as Preseason All-MAAC Third Team selection
Rayshel Brown,
Amari Anthony,
Tobulayefa Watts, and
Margo Peterson while also mixing in many newcomers. Jabir takes over after spending four seasons at Florida Atlantic. The Saints return four of their top five scorers, with Brown leading that pack. Young and
Marilena Gerostergiou are the only two graduates from last season's squad, as Brown, Anthony, Watts, and Peterson all averaged over 25.0 minutes per game.
Seniors
Amari Anthony and
Margo Peterson each scored over 20 points as the Saints defeated the Dominican College (DII) Chargers by a final score of 99-81 in an exhibition at the UHY Center on Saturday afternoon. Anthony led the way with 22 points and eight rebounds, going 6-for-9 from the floor and tossing in eight of nine from the free throw line. Peterson would shine from distance, going for 21 points on 4-for-6 shooting from behind the arc. Anthony also led the team in rebounds with eight, while Peterson finished just behind her with seven. Also scoring in double figures was sophomore
Ahniysha Jackson, who tossed in 19 points with a team-high eight assists.
Rayshel Brown also added 14 points and five rebounds. As a team, the Saints shot 51.6 percent from the field.
Binghamton begins its 21st season at the NCAA Division I level and as a member of the America East Conference. The Bearcats finished 5-11 (5-9 AE) during the 2020-21 campaign. Current junior Denai Bowman was named first-team all-conference during the 2020-21 season and was also chosen to the America East All-Defensive Team. She ranked fourth in the America East in scoring (12.5 ppg.), third in steals (2.0 spg.), ninth with a .409 field goal percentage, tied for No. 10 in rebounding (5.9 rpg.) and tied for No. 12 in assists (2.4 apg.). Bowman heads into the year as an America East Preseason All-Conference selection.
In the series history, Siena and Binghamton will be squaring off for the eighth time on Tuesday. The Bearcats currently hold a 4-3 advantage and were winners in their last meeting by a final score of 89-62 to open the 2019-20 season when the two teams met at the Times Union Center.
