LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Athletics announced the return of Ryan Venter back to the department for his second stint in Green and Gold. Venter will serve as the Associate Athletic Director for External Operations, overseeing the Athletic Department's marketing, communications, sales, and development efforts.
Venter will work with Vice President/Director of Athletics John D'Argenio and other department administrators on developing strategic planning and strategies for messaging, fundraising, ticket sales, and other external aspects. Venter previously served as an Assistant Athletic Director at Siena from 2017-19.
"Ryan Venter is a proven athletic administrator with deep experience in fundraising, planning, and developing relationships with constituents who can make us better," D'Argenio said. "Ryan's past experience with us will lend to a smooth and quick transition and he begins his work to help us March On!"
Venter comes back to Loudonville following two years across town as the Associate Athletic Director of Development at The College of Saint Rose in nearby Albany, where he oversaw all fundraising initiatives for the athletics department including the Golden Knights Club, the annual golf tournament, and the Golden Knights Awards Banquet.
During his first stint in the Green and Gold, he oversaw the Saints Alive! Annual Fund, and helped to generate nearly a half million dollars annually. He was also responsible for directing the athletic department's major fundraising events, soliciting gifts for the Saints' capital campaign project, and establishing various outreach initiatives.
Venter spent four years at the Capital District YMCA from 2013-17, including the final two as the Director of Major and Planned Gifts. In his first two years with the organization, he served as the District Executive Director where he ran the Guilderland YMCA while also overseeing both the East Greenbush and Schenectady YMCA's and their respective executive directors.
Venter spent eight years as the Director of Athletics and Recreation at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences from 2005-13. During his tenure, he oversaw and managed all aspects of the ACPHS Department of Athletics and Recreation which included intercollegiate athletics, intramurals, recreational programming and the on-campus fitness center. Venter developed the strategic plan for the department, and also managed the $2.5 million development and renovation of the ACPHS Athletic Track and Field project.
Venter is a 2003 graduate of Boston College, where he earned his bachelor's in Communications and was a men's basketball team manager for all four years. He received his master's in Educational Administration with a concentration in Higher Ed. Administration from the University at Albany in 2006.
Venter resides in nearby Glenmont with his wife Christy, a 2004 Siena graduate, and his daughters, Ella and Grace. His father, Thomas Venter '71 was a standout golfer at Siena and was enshrined in the Siena Athletic Hall of Fame in 1982.
