DeChiaro Garners Third Team All-Region Honors

The Senior Co-Captain Picked Up Another Postseason Accolade

Siena Softball graduating senior Isabelle DeChiaro earned her third postseason honor of the 2021 season following the announcement of the All-Region Teams by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Thursday afternoon. The outfielder was selected to the Great Lakes Region Third Team to go along with taking home Second Team All-MAAC honors as both an outfielder and a utility this season.

"I am very happy for Izzy to receive recognition on a national scale for her performance this season," head coach Casey Bump said. "She has worked very hard all season and is well-deserving of this recognition."

DeChiaro was one of 380 student-athletes from 154 programs that received 2021 NFCA Division I All-Region accolades following the 2021 season. The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all student-athletes now become eligible for the 2021 NFCA Division I All-America squads.

Earning her first-ever All-Region honor, the Cohoes, New York native led the Saints in batting average (.396), hits (38), doubles (8), total bases (55), slugging percentage (.573), walks drawn (21), and on-base percentage (.508), while ranking second in RBI (23), and third in runs (19).

The co-captain ranked fourth in the MAAC in batting average during the regular season, as well as tied for third in on-base percentage, fourth in walks drawn, tied for fifth in hits, and eighth in slugging percentage. DeChiaro recorded eight multi-hit games, including two of the three-hit variety while playing in all 34 games on the season and starting in 32.

DeChiaro became the fifth Saint in program history to pick up a Great Lakes All-Region Nod, joining Carrie Getz (2003), Sarah Rose (2005), Shannon Jones (2012), and former teammate Madysen Cossack (2017 & 2019).
