The Siena Women's Lacrosse looks to create more program history on Sunday afternoon, as the Green and Gold are set to take on the No. 1 seed Fairfield Stags to determine who will head to the NCAA Tournament. The Saints look to clinch the program's first NCAA Tournament berth. The two programs meet in the MAAC Championship game at Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium back in 2019. Fairfield would best the Saints in overtime by a 10-9 final score.
The winner of Sunday's championship will advance to the NCAA Tournament, with seed and location of the game to be announced at 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 9 on the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Lacrosse Selection Show on ESPNU.

Siena enters the championship game with wins over Canisius and Monmouth in the quarterfinals and semifinal rounds, while Fairfield has had to play though Marist and Niagara. The Stags topped the Red Foxes 14-13 in overtime, while they took the Purple Eagles with a score of 15-10. The Saints would top Canisius 21-11, while they ousted the Hawks on Thursday by a 20-11 final. Overall, Siena is now 3-1 all-time as a No. 2 seed in the MAAC Tournament. Against Fairfield, the Saints are 3-24 all-time, including an 0-3 mark in the MAAC Tournament.
The Siena Women's Lacrosse team was honored with seven individual accolades, highlighted by four First Team All-MAAC selections and head coach
Abigail Rehfuss, who was named the 2021 BSN MAAC Coach of the Year last week.
Earning first team honors for the Saints was seniors
Kerry Gerety (midfield) and
Emily Pomeroy (defense), redshirt junior
Kaitlyn Dowsett (attack), and junior
Mary Soures (midfield). Receiving All-MAAC Second Team honors was senior
Emily Fiorillo (defense), while freshman
Laura Bonomo (midfield) earned All-Rookie honors.
Rehfuss earns her first Coach of the Year award after a 9-2 regular season for the Saints. She is only the third coach in program history to earn the honor, following Jake McHerron (2004) and Andrea Duffy (2010). Siena enters the postseason on a six-game winning streak, having defeated both Fairfield and Monmouth, the No. 1 and No. 3 seeds in the championship.

Mary Soures scored seven goals for the second time in a single game this season en route to a 15-11 victory over the Stags. To go with Soures' seven points, Dowsett added four points with three goals and an assist.

Hayley Kmack provided a goal on her stat line.
Ally Mervine would make nine saves in net for her fifth win of the season. Junior
Hannah Field led the defensive effort in front of the cage with a trio of caused turnovers.
Fairfield is in search of its third straight MAAC Championship after the locking up the regular season crown for the third consecutive year. The Stags are 12-1 on the season following Thursday's 15-10 semifinal victory over Niagara. The lone blemish on Fairfield's record is a 15-11 loss to Siena on April 10 at Rafferty Stadium. The Stags boast their own trio of All-MAAC First Teamers in MAAC Midfielder of the Year Kelly Horning, Defensive Player of the Year Maggie Reynolds and fifth-year attacker Meaghan Graham. Graham netted a pair of goals against the Saints in the regular season with Horning filling out the statsheet with one goal, one assist, three ground balls, three caused turnovers and six draw controls.
Kaitlyn Dowsett (94) and
Nicole McNeely (97) are both within reach of the 100 goal milestone. With a win on Thursday, head coach
Abigail Rehfuss will also become the program's all-time leader in career wins by a head coach.
