SCHENECTADY, NY – The Siena Women's Tennis team opened up their 2021-22 season in grand style on Friday afternoon, as they took part in the first day of the Siena Invite at Central Park in Schenectady.
Senior Megan Brown led the way in Flight A with a pair of wins, by the final of 8-2 and 8-4. Sophomore
Emma Boggiali scored a pair of wins in Flight B, winning 8-5 and 8-3. Despite a first round loss, freshman
Laia Giralt would bounce back with a win in Flight A.
The doubles group of Anastasia Konaiev and
Shelby Madeiros won their doubles matchup 6-2. Madeiros also took advantage of her single performance, taking an 8-5 win in Flight D. Koniaev did the same in Flight C, winning 8-3 after receiving a first round bye.
The Saints return to action tomorrow for Day 2 of the Siena Invite, with first serve at Central Park in Schenectady getting things started at 9 a.m.
