Men’s Soccer Hosts Binghamton Tuesday (WATCH)

The Saints and the Bearcats will Face Off at Hickey Field

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Looking to keep momentum rolling after a solid non-conference road win over the weekend, Siena Men's Soccer (2-1) will return home on Tuesday to host America East foe Binghamton (2-1) at Hickey Field at 4:00 PM, with the match also airing on Siena All-Access.

Winners in two of its first three matches for the first time since 2014, Siena will look to keep up a five-match unbeaten streak at home (2-0-2) that dates back to November 2019. The Saints opened the season with a 2-1 home win against Sacred Heart on August 26 and went 1-1 on the road last week.

Following a heartbreaking 1-0 loss in overtime at UMass Lowell, a pair of second-half scores propelled the Green and Gold to a 2-0 shutout victory at Bryant last Saturday, with Jacob Pacheco and Thomas Storodegard each finding the back of the net. Senior goalkeeper Greg Monroe recorded his sixth career shutout with a season-best seven saves in-goal and has allowed just a pair of scores through three matches thus far.

Pacheco scored twice in the first three matches of the year and is one of only five players in the MAAC to do so this year. Monroe currently ranks third in the league in goals against average (0.66) and has logged the most total saves of any keeper in the MAAC (13). Freshman midfielder Jacob Arachchige-Jensen became the second straight Saint to take home a MAAC Weekly Award when he was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week on Monday. The Svendborg, Denmark native assisted on both of Siena's goals during Saturday's victory, and is tied for the league lead in helps with three.

Frederic Storodegard took home MAAC Rookie of the Week honors on August 30, marking the first time since September 2018 that the Saints have won the award in back-to-back weeks and the first time since 2012 that two different Siena players have taken it home in a single season.

With the pair facing off for the first time since 2016, Binghamton also enters the match with a 2-1 mark, having captured 2-1 wins over Colgate and St. Bonaventure before falling at Niagara last Friday. In the midst of a five-match road trip which includes MAAC foes Niagara, Siena, Canisius, and Monmouth, the Bearcats boast junior forward Oliver Svalander, who leads the team with two goals, and junior keeper Matts Roorda, who leads the AEC with 5.00 saves per-game.

Siena will enter the seventh matchup in the series in search of its first-ever win against Binghamton, who holds a 3-0-3 advantage since the first meeting in 2002. The teams played to a 2-2 draw at Hickey Field on September 2, 2016, with the Bearcats winning three of four matches before that. The squads have tied in all three matches (2016, 2004, 2002), played in Loudonville.

A video-only (no audio) stream will air on Siena All-Access, which can be viewed free of charge by simply logging onto sienasaints.com/watch or by clicking the corresponding link. A total of eight men's soccer home matches are scheduled to be broadcast this fall, including three on the ESPN Family of Networks.
