The Siena Men's Tennis team fell just short of sending players to the ITA Super Regionals, as both
Jose Pablo Davila and
Agustin Suarez competed for that chance on Monday afternoon at the ITA Regionals Round of 16 held at Army West Point.
The duo each won three matches leading up to Monday's Round of 16, with victories sending them to the ITA Super Regionals in two weeks. However, the dup each fell in their singles matchup – as both faces opponents from Harvard.
Suarez fell in three sets in a tightly contested match against Harvard's Alan Yim. After winning the first set 6-4, Suarez then fell with a 6-2 score to send the match to a third set. Despite a strong effort, Suarez fell 7-5 in the third, ending his run.
Davila then competed against Harvard's Valdemar Pape, dropping the match in straight sets 6-1, 6-3, also ending his run in the tournament.
The ITA Regional will now conclude the Saints' fall schedule, with their next action coming on Sunday, Jan. 22 when they head to Hanover, New Hampshire to face both Dartmouth and Binghamton in a doubleheader match to commence their spring season.
