LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Athletics announced the appointment of Associate Professor of Psychology Michael Jarcho, PhD. As the department's newest Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR). Jarcho replaces former FAR Paul Dwyer, Professor of Business Law, who recently retired.
As part of his role as FAR, Dr. Jarcho will be responsible for providing external oversight for Siena Athletics programs to support and foster academic integrity and represent the department and student athletes to the Siena faculty. He will be the liaison between the Athletics Department, the Siena faculty, and the College's Office of Academic Affairs, and will assist in maintaining a relationship where all parties work in conjunction with each other.
Now an Associate Professor of Psychology, Jarcho came to Siena in 2016 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted in 2020. He previously served as an Assistant Professor of Neuroscience at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa from 2012-16 after receiving his Doctorate of Psychology.
Jarcho earned his PH.D. from the University of California-Davis in 2011, and went on to spend a year as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the UCLA Cousins Center for Psychoneuroimmunology. His doctoral and postdoctoral work included working at the California National Primate Research Center working with titi monkeys, a monogamous new world monkey species. He also interned at the Smithsonian Institution National Zoological Park from 2003-05.
Jarcho earned his Bachelor's of Science in Biology from Colby College in 2003, and received his Master's degree in Environmental Science from George Mason University in 2007 prior to entering his doctoral studies.
