LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Athletics announced a new and exciting way to "Build Better Saints" with the opening of the department's new Fueling Station. Located inside the Siena Strength & Conditioning Room, the station will provide Siena Student Athletes with healthy food options as a way to recharge after workouts.
"We are excited to open our fueling station and give our Saints another option to stay healthy and energized as they look to March On and win MAAC Championships," Vice President / Director of Athletics
John D'Argenio said. "A special thanks to
Lynne Young and Van Wagner for creating this innovative partnership with BARE Blends."
Beginning on February 1, Siena began a partnership with local health food establishment BARE Blends to provide fresh, prepackaged, gluten-free, and plant-based options for student athletes to enjoy. Options include fresh-pressed wellness shots and juices, protein-packed mini muffins, energy bites, nutrient-dense vegan treats, overnight oats, and more.
"We are proud to partner with Siena College on this important initiative," Annie Berdar, owner of BARE Blends said. "One of our goals at BARE Blends is to provide our customers and our community with access to healthy, plant-based food. We are incredibly excited to enrich the lives of students in our community by doing just that at Siena and are looking forward to this partnership".
The partnership was arranged through Van Wagner, Siena's multimedia rights holder, and Siena's Van Wagner General Manager
Lynne Young. BARE blends will also provide nutrition lectures to student athletes and teams, and will provide a 10% discount to all Siena students who visit one of their five brick-and-mortar locations around the Capital Region.
"The deal allowed for new growth within our athletic programs to gain access to healthy options, while providing the department with an additional local nutritional partner," Young said. "We are glad to partner with BARE Blends to create the Siena Fueling station, and see this as the first step to providing additional nutritional opportunities for Siena's student athletes."
