A seven-run fifth inning rallied 24

Game One: #24 Maryland 14, Siena 9
The Siena (2-13) offense continued to click on all cylinders despite facing a nationally ranked opponent and one of the country's top starting pitching prospects in Nick Dean. The Saints pounded out a season-high 14 hits and manufactured their fourth nine-plus run performance in five games, but it wasn't enough as Maryland (15-3) out-slugged Siena to take the opener.
The Saints scored six unanswered runs to race out to a 6-2 lead in the fourth inning. Siena scored four times in the third thanks to a
Matt Livingston solo home run, an RBI double by
Vincent DiNicola, and a two-run two-bagger from
Vincenzo Castronovo. The Saints pushed the lead to as many as four on another two-run double off the bat of
Devan Kruzinski in the fourth.
But the Terrapins responded with a seven-spot in the fifth and added three more in the sixth to go back in front and complete the rally. A two-run home run by Chris Alleyne capped the scoring in the fifth, while Troy Schreffler provided the offense in the sixth with a three-run homer.
Siena finished with a season-high three homers, as Livingston popped a pair while
Willie Schwarick added his first of the spring. Five Saints produced multi-hit efforts.
Game Two: #24 Maryland 7, Siena 0
Four Maryland hurlers combined on a three-hit shutout with 16 strikeouts to complete the doubleheader sweep. Ryan Ramsey went the first six innings for the Terps, allowing just one hit and only two walks while striking out 11 to earn the victory.
The Saints, who had been red-hot offensively in averaging 8.7 runs over their previous six games, were shutout for the fourth time this season. Siena managed just three singles, with
Kobe Stenson leading the way with a pair of hits.
Maryland balanced out its scoring, tallying a run in the first and two more in the second. The Terps rounded out their scoring with a pair of insurance runs apiece in both the sixth and seventh innings, respectively, to improve to a perfect 8-0 so far this spring in College Park.
The teams will wrap up the three-game weekend series tomorrow at 1 p.m.
