Fordham scored 10 unanswered runs spanning the fifth and sixth innings to rally past Siena Baseball 11-6 Tuesday afternoon in the Bronx. Four Saints recorded multi-hit performances as part of a 13-hit effort in defeat.
Siena (2-15) raced out to a commanding 6-1 lead following a three-run fifth inning.
Vincent DiNicola and
Willie Schwarick each produced run-scoring hits in the frame, while
Vincenzo Castronovo added a sacrifice fly.
But Fordham (3-15) responded with an eight-run bottom half of the fifth to surge ahead 9-6. The Rams benefited from five walks in the frame, sending 11 men to the plate in the inning. Fordham added a pair more runs in the sixth to provide the final scoring.
Devan Kruzinski reached base safely in all four plate appearances for the Saints, tallying a pair of singles while also walking twice. DiNicola, Schwarick, and
Matt Livingston each added two hits, while DiNicola drove in a pair. All nine Siena starters reached base safely, with eight recording hits and six working walks as part of a balanced offensive effort.
The Saints continue their busy five-game week tomorrow with a 3 p.m. first pitch at Army West Point.
