Saints Defeated by Big Green in Saturday Morning Action

LOUDONVILLE, NY –  A comeback attempt was halted only by the clock for the Siena Saints on Saturday afternoon, as the Green and Gold were defeated by the Dartmouth Big Green by a final score of 11-9.

Dartmouth was led by a six point effort from Tommy Rogan, who scored three times and dished three assists. George Prince scored a team-high four goals while tossing out an assist. The Big Green had six other point-getters on the game, with goaltender Daniel Hincks making nine stops in cage.

Freshman Pratt Reynolds led the offensive charge with a pair of goals and assists for a four-point day. Christian Watts, Nick Casner, and Luke Julien all had three-point days, with fifth-year Jack Kiernan scoring a goal and assist. Goaltender Christopher Yanchoris made 14 saves on the game for Siena.

Despite an early goal from Julien to put Siena up early, Dartmouth responded with seven unanswered goals as they were able to pull away from the Saints in the first half. A goal by Casner gave Siena some momentum going into the second half, trialing 7-2.

Watts converted the lone man-up goal on the game for either side to open the scoring in the third, making it a 7-3 score. Siena began to chip away, making it a 9-4 score heading into the fourth. Both sides combined for seven goal in the final frame, with Siena holding down Dartmouth to two goals in the fourth. Siena scored three straight times until the final buzzer, making their comeback attempt fall short.

Dartmouth out-shot the Saints by a large first half margin, while Siena came back to top the Big Green in the second half 22-18. However, turnovers were a problem for the Saints as they committed 22 – including nine in the second quarter.

The Saints return to action next Saturday, Mar. 12 at 1 p.m. when they play host to the St. John's Red Storm at Hickey Field.
