Manhattan scored six times during a decisive fifth inning to defeat Siena Baseball 11-4 in the middle game of the series Saturday night on the campus of Pace University in Pleasantville, New York.
Five different Manhattan (14-13, 5-3) players registered multi-hit performances as part of a 14-hit attack. Pete Durocher led the way for the Jaspers going 3-4 with three runs scored, a homer and three RBI.
Manhattan maintained a 2-1 lead before breaking things open with their sixth run fifth. The Jaspers batted around, sending 10 men to the plate in a frame in which they registered six hits.
Brett Young led Siena (8-21, 5-3) offensively going 2-3 with a pair of runs scored and a walk, while
Vincenzo Castronovo knocked in a pair of runs.
Jordan Warecke went seven strong innings to earn the win for Manhattan. He scattered six hits and three runs (two earned), while walking two and striking out five.
The decisive rubber game of the series is set for Sunday at 1 p.m.
