LOUDONVILLE, NY – The Siena Women's Basketball program and head coach
Jim Jabir have announced the signings of incoming freshmen London Gamble, Angel Jones, and Teresa Seppala, and Nikola Zdenkova to the program. The four freshman will join the Saints for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
"With the signings of London, Angel, Teresa, and Nikola, we have deepened and strengthened our backcourt with smarts, athleticism, and explosiveness," said Jabir. "Teresa adds skill to our front court as well. We can't wait to get them here on campus and integrated into our program."
Matriculating from Moorpark, California, Gamble was an All-Marmonte League First Team selection at Westlake High School. The point guard was also named All-Ventura County First Team, and All-CIFSS Second Team. Gamble also earned Daily News Area All-Star Team and Acorn All-Star Team honors.
A native of Woodbridge, Virginia, Jones brings four years' worth of All-District selections and two All-Region selections to Siena. She was named Washington Post All-Met Honorable Mention and was a McDonalds All-American nominee. She was named Team MVP her freshman season, and competed at the AAU Championships in 2021.
Entering Siena from Tampere, Finland, Seppala brings international experience having competed for the U-16 and U-20 Finland National Team. The 6'0 forward played for HBA-Marsky Helsinki and Tampereen Pyrinto.
Coming all the way from Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, Zdenkova made U-16 National Team appearances in 2018 and 2019, and a U-18 appearance at the 2021 European Championships. In 2019, she helped the Czech Republic to a second place finish at the U-16 European Championships. She also competed for the Czech Republic at the European Youth Olympic Festival in 2019. Coming to Loudonville as a guard, Zdenkova played club basketball for USK Praha.
In addition to the four signees, the Saints will add three walk-ons in Rylee Carpenter, Bridie McCann, and Simone Walker. Carpenter and Walker are both local products, having both played at Shenendehowa High School. Carpenter enters as a sophomore and Walker a junior, with Carpenter transferring in from Division II Dominican College (NY), and Walker having attended Division II Adelphi University last fall before spending the spring semester at Siena. McCann comes to Loudonville as a freshman from Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, having played at Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast High School.
The six additions bring Siena's newcomer total to eight new freshmen, and Carpenter and Walker as a sophomores. The group
joins the Saints' previous four freshmen signings – Hannah Finnerty, Elisa Mevius, Nyakoat Ruot, and Savannah Wilson - from November. The new group will look to build off of the Saints' fifth-place finish in the MAAC last season.
