LOUDONVILLE, NY – The Siena Saints wrapped up the final day of their Siena Invitational on Saturday afternoon from the Sharp Courts at RPI in Troy.
Agustin Suarez and
Matt Nardone would be the standout performers, taking home the Doubles A draw final by a final score of 6-4 against RPI's Andy Zhu and Safanov. The win was Siena's lone final victory of the day.
Junior
Dante Russo went to the finals of the Singles A draw, winning his semifinal matchup against Andy Zhu by a final of 6-2, 7-6 (2). Russo then moved on to face RPI's Aiden Drover-Mattinen in the final, falling to X.
Russo also joined forces with freshman
Edward Vo in the Doubles A third place match, taking home a 6-1 victory to give Siena two of the top three doubles pairings in the tournament's top flight.
Siena's other action came in the form of
Maxwell Acri and
Marvin Oberli, both in the Singles C backdraw. Acri was dominant in an 8-1 win to move him to the backdraw final – where he then won 8-2 against LIU's Lucas Hornung. Oberli lost his first matchup of the day 8-0 against Marist's Carlos Vazquez.
Siena returns to action next Sunday, Sept. 18 when they play host to Holy Cross at Tri-City Fitness.
