BRONX, NY – Siena Cross Country wrapped its Fall 2023 cross country season with a pair of competitive showings at the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Northeast Regional meet at Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx, New York on Friday.
 Both teams recorded at lead one top-100 individual finisher and logged both times and finishes near the top of the program record books.
The Siena women logged a 19
th place finish, while the men placed 26
th as a team.
The women were led in the 6k by graduate student and recent All-MAAC finishers
Madeleine Hesler, who placed 75
th individual with a time of 21:15.9, with her time good for the team's third-fastest 6k ever and her place going for the fifth-highest at the NCAA Regional meet. Fellow All-MAAC finisher, junior
Julia Caputo, came in just behind with a time of 21.19.5 for 78
th individually.
Junior
Claire Gardner (22:03.0) took 128
th individually, while senior
Katharine Hesler (22:22.1) placed 150
th and freshman
Kyra Pellegrino (22:31.9) took 161
st. Siena's seven-women competition team was rounded out by sophomore
Stephanie Queiroz (22:46.7) and junior
Keira Flaherty (22:53.7), who finished 171
st and 178
th, respectively.
Coming off a second-place finish at the 2023 MAAC Cross Country Championships, junior
Jackson Cayward once again steadied the men's team with a 78
th place individual finish and a 10k time of 30:59.0, good for the tenth-fastest NCAA 10k time in program history and the ninth-best place ever.
Senior
Killian McNamee (31:59.6) finished next for the Saints in 144
th, while senior
Christopher DeForest (32:27.5) and junior
Nathaniel Sletten (32:30.6) came after in 166
th and 171
st, respectively. The Saints' competing group was rounded out by fifth year
Tommy Anderson (33:04.5), sophomore
Tyler Greene (33:24.4), and junior
Chris Bertola (33:30.1).
Siena will now turn its attention to the start of indoor track season next month, and the eventual MAAC Indoor Track Championships next February.
