Jacksonville swept a Saturday afternoon doubleheader to clinch the series from Siena Baseball in North Florida. The Dolphins took the opener 10-2 and the nightcap 9-2 in seven innings.
Game One: Jacksonville 10, Siena 2
Jacksonville (4-3) scored seven runs between the fifth and seventh innings to take the first game of the doubleheader. Christian Howard registered three hits and Chase Molloy scored three times while also knocking in three runs out of the leadoff spot for the Dolphins.
Vincent DiNicola drilled a solo home run over the 20-foot-high wall in straightaway center in the second, and
Sean Camacho stole third and scored on an errant throw in the eighth, to account for the Siena (0-6) offense. DiNicola registered his second multi-hit performance on the young season, while Camacho also added two hits and swiped a pair of bags out of the leadoff spot.
But that's all the Saints were able to muster against Christian Graham and Blake Barquin. Graham scattered three hits and one run without allowing a walk while striking out nine over 5.2 innings to earn the win, while Barquin went the final 3.1 to register the save.
Game Two: Jacksonville 9, Siena 2 (7)
Jacksonville scored nine unanswered runs to complete the doubleheader sweep.
Siena jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third on a two-run homer by freshman
Louis Percival, who went deep in just his fourth collegiate plate appearance. But once again that was the lone offense for the Saints, who have been limited to just seven total runs over their past five games after scoring five in the season-opener.
The Dolphins responded with three runs in the home half of the third to take the lead for good, capped by a two-run go-ahead home run by Kris Armstrong. Jacksonville put the game away with a four-run fifth.
The Saints will look to salvage the four-game series Sunday at 1 p.m.
