Women’s Tennis Garners Three All-MAAC Tennis Awards

De Faber-Schumacher, Boggiali and Giralt all nab First Team Honors

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has revealed the 2023 Women's Tennis Major Award winners and All-MAAC Teams, voted on by the league's seven head coaches.
 
Siena Women's Tennis garnered three All-MAAC awards with freshman Madeline De Faber-Schumacher and the duo of Emma Boggiali and Laia Giralt being named as First Team selections to the singles #6 position and the doubles #3 position. 
 
De Faber-Schumacher, a native of Phoenixville, PA, made an immediate impact on the Saints by running a record of 19-3 in singles play including a mark of 5-1 in conference play.  The product of Laurel Springs High School also was named the MAAC Player of the Week on March 1, helping the Siena Women's Tennis team reach the postseason for a seventh consecutive season.  
 
Boggiali, a junior from Rome, Italy teamed with Giralt, a sophomore from Sant Cugat, Spain, to earn a unanimous selection at the First Team #3 doubles spot after going an undefeated 6-0 in conference play.  The duo went 15-10 overall in doubles play for the season.  
 
Meagan Brown and Alexa Wilson were named to the All-MAAC Second Team for the #1 doubles spot.  Brown, a native of Elk River, MN and Wilson, who hails from Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, collected a record of 17-9 overall and went 5-1 in conference play. 
 
Wilson was a two-time MAAC Player of the Week honoree, winning the award on March 8 and 22. 

Brown also won the award on two occasions, taking home the honor on February 22 as well as March 29.

The 2023 MAAC Men's & Women's Tennis Championships will take place on April 22 and 23 at Mercer County Park Tennis Center in West Windsor, NJ. This will be the 11th consecutive championship held at Mercer County Park Tennis Center dating back to the 2012 MAAC Men's & Women's Tennis Championships. A total of 39 student-athletes were named to the 2023 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Tennis All-Academic Team, announced by the league office today.
 
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
 
Siena earned six selections including juniors Emma Boggiali (Business) and Shelby Madeiros (Psychology), fifth-year Meagan Brown (Biology), sophomores Jade Gautier (Marketing) and Laia Giralt (Data Science), and senior Maanya Viswanath (Psychology).
