Siena Baseball worked a season-high 11 walks and threatened to put up crooked numbers in nearly every inning, but stranded 15 baserunners in a frustrating 9-4 non-conference loss Tuesday night at Binghamton.
A seven-run second inning proved to be the difference for Binghamton (21-14, 7-5), which improved to an impressive 15-3 in Vestal. The Bearcats batted around, sending 13 men to the plate while registering five of their nine hits in the decisive frame. Binghamton added a pair of runs in the fourth to round out their scoring ledger.
Matt Livingston produced three singles and got Siena (9-32, 3-9) on the board with an RBI hit in the fourth. The Saints added a run in the sixth, and narrowed the gap on a two-run homer by
Louis Percival in the seventh. Siena loaded the bases with one out in the ninth, but a double play ended the final threat, and the game.
Noah Wieczorek was a bright spot out of the bullpen, tossing a career-high four scoreless innings allowing just one hit and only one walk while striking out three.
The Saints will turn right around and continue their five-game week with another non-conference road contest at UMass Wednesday at 3 p.m.
