LOUDONVILLE, NY – Brendan O'Donnell and Scott Shaw combined to hit three home runs and knock in all seven Rider runs as the Broncs took the rubber game and series from Siena Baseball 7-4 at Connors Park.
Shaw's second inning grand slam set the tone for Rider (22-9, 7-2), which jumped out to a commanding 5-0 lead in the third. Siena (5-27, 1-5) got a run back in the home half of the third on a sacrifice fly from
Aiden Stewart.
The Saints mounted a rally thanks to a clutch two-out, three-run homer by
Willie Schwarick to pull within 5-4 in the sixth. But O'Donnell, who previously hit a solo home run in the third, added a two-run shot in the seventh to quell the rally and provide the final margin.
Siena continues its season-long nine-game homestand Tuesday with a non-conference matchup vs. Central Connecticut at 3 p.m. at Connors Park.
