Siena Men's Tennis was edged out doubles play and then split matches in singles competition to take a narrow 4-3 loss in conference play against Quinnipiac at Central Park in Schenectady on Saturday afternoon.
Siena (9-10 overall, 2-2 MAAC) dropped two of three doubles matches to start the day.
Tomas del Olmo and
Jose Pablo Davila salvaged the last remaining doubles flight with a win from the #3 spot.
Edward Vo, moved up from his usual singles #5 position to the #4 position and won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2 over Donovan Brown to cut into the lead at 2-1.
Losses by both
Agustin Suarez at the #3 spot and del Olmo at the #2 position sealed the win for the Bobcats (9-9, 3-1 MAAC).
Siena continued to play hard, earning victories at the #1 singles spot from
Dante Russo, who grinded out a 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (8) victory against Ayato Arakaki, and Andrea Voro, who topped Kemal Karagozoglu in straight sets by the scores of 6-3, 6-2.
Siena will next travel to play at Rider (7-12, 3-1 MAAC) on Friday at 12:45 p.m. in Lawrenceville, NJ.
