FAIRFIELD, CT – They meet again.
For the fourth time in the past five seasons, Siena Women's Lacrosse will meet perennial MAAC Women's Lacrosse power Fairfield in the postseason.
It will be the third time with the MAAC Championship on the line and the Saints are banking on the third time being the charm when the teams meet on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium on Sunday at 12 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
While the Stags will be making its 14
th appearance in the MAAC title game and seeking its eighth championship, Siena seeks to make history by hoisting the trophy for a first time under the program's all-time winningest coach in
Abigail Rehfuss.
While Fairfield has dominated the all-time series history 27-4 including 5-0 in the postseason, the Saints have played the four-time defending MAAC Champions down to the final whistle with several closely contested games in recent times.
The 2019 MAAC Championship needed overtime to decide it by a score of 10-9 while the 2021 MAAC Championship had a final of 12-8.
During last year's regular season meeting, the Saints beat them 16-11 in Loudonville, but Fairfield returned the favor in the postseason by a margin of 10-8 in the MAAC Semifinal Round.
Siena (12-6) reached this point by earning the No. 2 seed in the regular season to earn a bye before being backed by a career-high six-goal performance by sophomore attack
Kelly Logue in a 13-10 victory over third-seeded Niagara on Friday.
The Saints outscored the Purple Eagles 6-1 in a decisive third quarter.
Logue leads Siena in points on the season with 61 (38 goals, 23 assists).

Mary Soures is the top goal scorer with 43 while sophomore
Grace Dobrzynski has totaled 54 points (18 goals, 36 assists).
As the top seed, Fairfield (13-4) also earned a bye as well as home field advantage and then doubled up fourth-seeded Quinnipiac 14-7 on Friday.
The Stags saw seven players light up the scoreboard with MAAC Offensive Player of the Year Olivia Doody and senior Elisabeth Talluto each recording a hat trick.
Doody leads the Stags in scoring with 63 points (26 goals and 37 assists) and Talluto is the top goal scorer with 48 on the season.
General ticket admission cost $10.
Student tickets, senior\ tickets (age 65+) and youth tickets (children age six and under) are only $5.
Fairfield and Siena rank among the top scoring offenses in the conference.
The Stags have averaged the most goals per game in the MAAC (13.65) and also rank first in assists per game (7.06) and first in points per game (20.71).
The Saints are fourth in the conference in goals per game (11.61), third in assists per game (5.17) and fourth in points per game (16.78).
Siena has done a much better job of keeping possession than Fairfield with the Saints turning the ball over for the second fewest amount of times during per game (11.71) while the Stags rank seventh and average 17.65 turnovers per contest.
The expected starters in net will be the Stags' Casey Collins and the Saints'
Sabrina Krasner.
Collins has allowed the fewest goals per game this season (8.55), is second is save percentage (.454) and is ranked eighth in saves per game (6.71).
Krasner ranks sixth in goals against average (11.34), fifth in save percentage (.451) and is third in saves per game (9.28).
