LOUDONVILLE, NY – After 18 successful seasons of leading the Siena women's golf program, head coach Dave Wronowski announced his retirement from the helm of the program.
The son of former longtime Siena Men's Golf head coach Tom Wronowski (1997-2014) and the head coach for over 60 percent of the program's existence, Wronowski's tenure at Siena College includes the most MAAC titles by a Siena coach, as well as the most conference titles won by a single program to-date.
"I'm extremely grateful for my time leading Siena Women's Golf over the past 18 years, and will miss being part of such a great program and department," Wronowski said. I'm looking forward to spending more time with my family, and after nearly two decades, the time has come to turn the program over to new leadership."
"Coach Wronowski has been a staple within Siena Athletics for nearly two decades, and guided our women's golf program to the forefront of the MAAC by winning seven conference titles," Siena Vice President/Director of Athletics John D'Argenio said. "His teams were as successful off the course as they were on with consistently high marks in the classroom and a steady stream of Scholar All-America selections. I wish him the very best in his retirement from the program and thank him for all he has contributed to the program and department."
Having led Siena Women's Golf since 2005, Wronowski led the program to seven consecutive MAAC titles from 2005-12, and guided it through a stretch of 12 straight championships from 2001-12. He most recently took home a MAAC title in 2014, and led the program to its only two NCAA Regional appearances to-date in 2012 & 2014. Siena also won the 2013 ECAC Team Championship under his leadership.
A four-time MAAC coach of the Year, Wronoswki coached the team to 21 dual match or tournament victories, and coached seven McLeod Trophy winners as the MAAC Individual Champion, as well as 30 All-MAAC finishers and three MAAC Rookie of the Year winners.
Academically, Women's Golf soared as one of the highest-performing Siena teams in the classroom during Wronowski's tenure, claiming NCAA APR Team Recognition Awards ten times and boasting 46 All-American Scholar honorees from the WGCA.
"I'm so proud of what all of the amazing student athletes I've had the privilege to coach accomplished on and off the course, not only by winning MAAC Championships, but by performing well in the classroom to earn awards like Academic All-American honors year-after-year," Wronowski added.
Wronowski departs Siena tied for the eighth-longest coaching tenure in department history.
Additionally, assistant coach Mike Behan has also departed the program following six seasons in Loudonville.
