LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Women's Tennis bolstered its' roster for the upcoming 2023-24 season with two promising international freshmen.
The Saints, who finished as the No. 3 seed and MAAC Semifinalists a season ago, recharged with the additions of Manuela Gomez and Zaara Omar.
Gomez, who hails from Bogotá, Colombia and attended Gimnasio Los Caobos High School, has steadily risen in the tennis ranking system.
Gomez reached a 746 in the Junior International Tennis Federation rankings and won two ITF Grade 5 doubles titles and one Grade 4 title. She achieved a best national ranking of #2 in singles in the 18-year-old category and was ranked #1 in doubles. Gomez made two finals, three semifinals and four quarterfinals in junior ITF tournament singles and doubles matches.
Omar, who is a native of Castelldefels, Spain, completed her high school education through Oxford Online Learning and maintained a 4.0 GPA in her curriculum and had some literary works published in a newspaper. As a tennis player, Omar has won local tournaments in Barcelona, Spain.
