LOUDONVILLE, NY – While coach
Danielle Schwan-Tetreault will be entering her seventh overall season with the Siena Women's Lacrosse program, this will be her first recruitment class as head coach.
The class of 2027 features 10 freshmen highlighted by four attackers, four midfielders, one defender and one goalkeeper.
Among them are attackers Sophie Engelhardt, Jenna Pollicino, Koehler Nieman and Olivia Nicholson, midfielders Sydney Hannes, Lauren O'Hagan, Elizabeth Wamp and Cassidy Bonura, defender Mary Koster and goalkeeper Shaylin Romero.
"We are excited to welcome 10 new freshmen into our Siena lacrosse family this fall," Schwan-Tetreault said. "We expect them to have an immediate impact on our program and are excited to help them grow and develop as players over the next four years."
Engelhardt finished her high school career at Saucon Valley in Hellertown, PA as the school record holder in goals with 203, securing an All-Area First Team nod after producing 83 goals and 14 assists in her senior campaign.
A local product, Pollicino comes over from nearby Shaker High School. The Watervliet, NY native broke through in 2022, earning First Team Suburban Council All-Star status as well as a nod from the
Times-Union as an All-Star. In 2023, Pollicino was named a Second Team Suburban Council All-Star.
From the western half of the state, Nieman hails from Canandaigua Academy where she was a All-County First Team selection in both 2022 and 2023 as well as an All-County Second Team selection in 2021.
Nicholson, who comes by way of Wantagh High School in Wantagh, NY, completed her senior season on a high note after recording 42 goals and 16 assists. She was a two-time All-County Honorable Mention.
Another record-setter that the Saints are adding to the program is Hannes, who leaves as the all-time leading scorer at Tyngsborough High School in Massachusetts with 317 goals, 63 assists and 380 points in three seasons. The Central Mass All-Star for her junior and senior seasons was also named a US Lacrosse All-American.
O'Hagan was teammates with Pollicino at Shaker High School and was named a Second Team selection as well as an Honorable Mention Suburban Council All-Star.
Wamp was highly decorated at Berkshire High School in Skaneateles, NY, earning 2023 honors as a US Lacrosse All-American. A 2022 and 2023 All-NEPSAC selection, Wamp registered 213 career points, posing 138 goals and 75 assists.
Coming by way of Avon Grove High School in West Grove, PA, Bonura was a First-Team All-Chesmont selection who also earned Second-Team All-Area honors.
Koster is the only defender in this year's class, having earned All-County honors in 2023 and All-Conference honors in 2022 at Massapequa High School.
Lastly, Romero is the lone goalkeeper of this recruiting class. She recorded 200 saves during her senior season at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy in Willow Grove, Pa.
The Saints finished 12-7 last season with a 6-2 finish inside MAAC play. Playing as the No. 2 seed, Siena reached the MAAC Championship Game for the third time in the previous five seasons. The team returns two All-MAAC selections in graduate student defender
Jenna Colabufo, who was named onto First Team Defense, and redshirt junior
Jordan Bentley, who was an All-MAAC Second Team selection on attack.
