Siena Women's Tennis saw a tough day against top competition to conclude play in the ITA Northeast Regionals in Cambridge, MA hosted by Harvard at the Murr Center on Friday and Saturday.
Sophomore
Andrea Vargas, who has entered her first season as a Saint after playing for one season with Northeastern State in Oklahoma, dropped her singles main draw match in the round of 128 to Mirabelle Brettkelly of Yale in straight sets. The defeat dropped Vargas to the consolation bracket, where the Lima, Peru native took on Bryant sophomore Yahli Noy and also fell in straight sets.
In the doubles main draw, Vargas teamed with junior
Madeline De Faber-Schumacher and fell to Isabel Petri Bere and Caroline Hinshaw of UConn 8-4 in the round of 64.
Sophomore
Zaara Omar and junior
Reegan Mullaney were also in action and took a 8-4 loss to Sophie Herrman and Klara Nelander of Rhode Island in the same round.
The Saints will have a few weeks to prepare before finishing out the fall portion of their schedule with
Laia Giralt and
Manuela Gomez qualifying for the ITA Conference Masters Tournament that will be held in Rome, GA from Nov. 7-10.
