Optimal Oscar Reigns Supreme in NateRentals.com Mock Duals

Siena Men’s Tennis has mixed results in final tune up before ITA Conference Masters Tournament

Sophomore Oscar Martinez continued to build onto his sensational 2024-25 campaign by running a record of 6-0 between singles and doubles play at the NateRentals.com Mocks Duals at Binghamton University from Friday through Sunday.

While the Siena Men's Tennis team had an up and down three-day tournament with a 6-8 overall record in singles and a 10-11 record in doubles competition, it was Martinez who made yet another indelible mark.

Martinez zipped through most of the competition against teams such as Army, Binghamton and Monmouth—dropping just one set between all his singles matches and doubles matches with partner and fellow sophomore Dylan Breen.

The La Guaira, Venezuela native capped off Sunday by teaming with Breen to top the Army team of Daniel Choi and Preston Achter 6-3.  In singles play, last season's MAAC Rookie of the Year cruised by Filipe Costa 6-2, 6-3.

On Saturday, Martinez defeated Choi in singles play 6-0, 6-2 in his lone match of the day.

A much busier Friday put Martinez on the court for a pair of doubles matches and one singles match.  Martinez took care of business with Breen by upending the Binghamton duo of Williams Binnie and James McPherson 6-4.

On the second doubles match of the day, Martinez and Breen toughened out a 7-6 (7) victory against Mateo Bivol and Louis Keller of Monmouth.

In arguably Martinez's toughest match, he battled for a 6-4, 5-7, 10-6 triumph over Mateo Bivol of Monmouth.

Siena returns to competition from Nov. 7-10 at the ITA Conference Masters Championship in Rome, GA at the Rome Tennis Center. Matches will be streamed on PlaySight.
