Preseason All-MAAC First Team selection
Teresa Seppala is expected to make her 2024-25 season debut against Fordham. The junior led the Saints last season averaging 14.1 points per game on 47.4 percent shooting from the field and 35.9 percent from three-point range to help pick up First Team All-MAAC honors.
Seppala returns to an offense that has
Ahniysha Jackson producing 14.7 points per game over her first three outings, while
Anajah Brown is also netting double figures with 10.7 points per contest. Jackson's 14.7 PPG also serves as the most she has averaged through her first three games to start a season.
Fordham returns home on Saturday evening following a 65-58 loss at Manhattan on Wednesday. The Rams are 2-3 overall on the young season, with nearly 30 percent of the team's 56.4 points per game coming from graduate student and Preseason Atlantic 10 First Team honoree Taylor Donaldson (16.3). While the team's scoring offense ranks at the bottom of the A-10 through five games, the defense has made up the difference allowing 59.4 points per game.
Siena owns an 8-0 all-time record against Fordham, making it the only series in which the Saints are unbeaten against an opponent with eight or more games played. Saturday will mark just the third meeting between the teams this century, as well as Siena's fourth all-time trip to Rose Hill Gym (first since Dec. 30, 2010).
Last season the Saints fended off the Rams for a 65-62 victory in Loudonville. Trailing by 10 points at halftime, Fordham rallied back to come within one point of tying the game with eight minutes to play. Clutch points down the stretch by
Alden Yergey and
Ahniysha Jackson denied the visiting Rams a comeback win. Jackson finished with a team high 17 points in the game, while
Teresa Seppala (13) and Yergey (11) also notched double figures.
Siena will play its last of four consecutive road games on Tue., Nov. 26 at Central Connecticut. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. from Detrick Gymnasium in New Britain, CT.
