Women’s Basketball Returns to UHY for First Time Since Nov. 6

LOUDONVILLE, NY - Following an extensive four-game, 24-day roadstand, Siena Women's Basketball returns to the UHY Center to host the visiting University of Massachusetts (UMass) Minutewomen at 2 p.m. on Sun., Dec. 1.

The 24-day roadstand was tied for the 18th such longest stretch in the nation this season, and now the Saints are rewarded with six consecutive home games that will take up the entire month of December.

In collecting the first win of the Terry Primm era with a wire-to-wire 87-50 victory over Central Connecticut on Nov. 26, the team and individuals set single-game highs for this season - as well as career bests for some.

As a team, Siena's 87 points, 54 rebounds, 30 made field goals, 19 made free-throws, 14 assists, 11 steals, and eight made three-pointers were among the numerous season bests that were set at CCSU on Nov. 26. Zyriah Price and Ana Conde notched the team's first double-doubles of the season in the game as well - Price doing so with career highs of 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Conde with career highs of 15 points and 11 boards.

In her second game back with the Saints, Teresa Seppala dropped 15 points yet again in the win - making it the ninth time in her last 10 games dating back to last season that she has produced 15 or more points. Ahniysha Jackson went for double figures for the fourth time in five games this season too. Dating back to last season, the graduate student has reached double figures in points in 10 of her last 11 outings.

Picked to finish 13th in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll, the Minutewomen are 2-4 this season, with three of their four losses coming by six points or less. The team will play just its second road game of the season when it makes the trip to Loudonville, and its first since falling at Harvard 71-58 on Nov. 4. Three players are notching double-figures in scoring so far this season in Allie Palmieri (15.5), Yahmani McKayle (12.0), and Megan Olbrys (11.7). The trio account for nearly 65 percent of the team's scoring, and have also combined for over half (46/83) of the team's assist total.

Entering the 10th all-time meeting between the teams, UMass holds a 6-3 advantage through the first nine games. The teams will meet in Loudonville for the first time since Dec. 16, 2018, which resulted in a 64-59 Siena win. The Saints have won two of the last three games between the teams, while each of the last four dating back to the 2011-12 season have been decided by six or fewer points. UMass came out with a 61-55 win in the most recent meeting on Dec. 15, 2019 in Amherst, MA.

Siena remains home, as it will for the entire month of December, to host crosstown foe UAlbany for the Albany Cup at 2 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 7. Tickets for the game can be purchased here.
