BUFFALO, NY – Siena Basketball concludes a seven-game, month-long stretch away from home when the Saints wrap up MAAC Opening Weekend action at Canisius Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Koessler Athletic Center.

Siena (4-5, 0-1) seeks to finish its seven-game stretch away from home on a high note, before returning to the Capital Region and breaking nine days between contests for the final exam period. The Saints last played at home Nov. 12 when they defeated American, and will finally return to MVP Arena for the Br. Ed Coughlin Franciscan Cup vs. sister-school St. Bonaventure on Dec. 17. The 35-day stretch between home games is tied for the fifth-longest nationally this season with Buffalo and Kennesaw State.

Siena has gone just 1-5 during the month-long road stretch following three straight wins to open the season, and will look to bounce back from a gut-wrenching 69-68 setback at Niagara to start the annual Western New York swing Friday.
Major Freeman led the Saints with 17 points and five assists, while
Myles Wilmoth added a career performance with 16 points and eight rebounds, and
Justice Shoats scored all 13 of his points in the second half, including the 1,000
th of his collegiate career.

Canisius (0-9, 0-1) is still in search of its first win in the Jim Christian Era. The Golden Griffins fell 60-52 vs. new MAAC member Merrimack Friday night, despite holding the Warriors to just 16 made field goals on only 30% shooting.

Siena and Canisius meet for the 113
th time in a series in which the Saints hold a 58-54 edge. However, the Golden Griffins are 17-7 spanning the past 24 meetings, and the Saints have dropped seven straight in Buffalo. Siena is in search of its first win at the Koessler Athletic Center since Jan. 24, 2016.
