Kelly Logue matched her career high with four assists and the Siena Women's Lacrosse defense held St. Bonaventure scoreless in the fourth quarter as the Saints defeated the Bonnies 10-6 in a non conference game on a chilly Saturday afternoon at Hickey Field.
Siena (2-2) scored five of the last six goals of the game and took the lead for good when junior attack
Grace Dobrzynski netted an unassisted goal with 9:54 left in the third quarter to give the Saints a 6-5 advantage.
Junior
Meghan Decker cashed in an opportunity on the player-up advantage on a feed from Dobrzynski.
It started a string of four consecutive Saints' goals scored on the player-up advantage.
After the Bonnies' Fiona McGovern cut the lead to 7-6 with 2:47 remaining in the third quarter, Siena responded with goals by
Jordan Bentley and two from Nicholson in the final frame.
Nicholson, a Wantagh, NY native, had opened her career with one point in each of the first three outings before today's breakout performance.
Siena increased its winning streak against St. Bonaventure in head-to-head meetings to four and now has defeated the Bonnies in seven of the prior eight meetings.
St. Bonaventure had won the first seven meetings in the series.
Dobrzynski had two goals and two assists, moving her into 12
th place all-time in program history for points with 124.
The West Greenwich, RI native broke a tie with Lauren Smith (2013-16) and surpassed Michelle Eide (2004-06) on the all-time points leaderboard.
Next up, Dobrzynski will have an opportunity to pass Kaitlyn Dowsett (2018-21), who has 129 points.
The Saints did much better on draw controls, winning 10 of 18—including three secured by freshman
Cassidy Bonura.
Senior
Taryn Asselin also scored twice in the win for her team-leading ninth goal of the season.
Sabrina Krasner made six saves and allowed only two goals in the second half.
Siena will go on the road for the first time this season with a visit set for Binghamton (2-2) this Wednesday at 3 p.m.
The Bearcats have won its last two games, defeating Marist 20-9 last Sunday and held on to win at Colgate 16-15 this past Wednesday.
