Siena Men's Tennis flexed its depth in churning out a 4-3 victory against Le Moyne on Senior Day at Tri-City Fitness in Latham on Saturday.
Despite dropping the doubles' point, the Saints (3-8) rode a strong performance from their singles players as
Maxwell Acri picked up the clincher from the number four position against the Dolphins' Kacper Piekarek 7-6 (6), 6-2.
Before the match, the Saints honored graduate student
Andrea Moro in a tribute to his playing career.
Saints' freshman
Oscar Martinez improved to 12-6 overall in singles play with a straight-sets win against Leon Grundstroem.
Another freshman
Dylan Breen upped his mark to 8-3 in singles individual play this season by besting Xavier Branagan 6-1, 6-3 from the No. 6 position.
And,
Duarte Melo won in straight sets over Luka Stojanovic at singles No. 5.
"This was a statement win on Senior Day as we head into MAAC play," said Siena men's tennis coach
John Chiaramonte. "We stumbled a little in doubles, but locked it down in singles. The whole lineup looked great! Shout out to Max [Acri] for getting the clinch."
The Dolphins fell to 7-9 on the season.
Next up, the Saints will travel to Olean, NY to take on St. Bonaventure on Friday, March 22 at 2 p.m.
